В 2013 году в Риге проходила выставка Лилейников, где каждый цветок имел своё оригинальное название: "The girls of a big city", "Blue purple" и другие.
К. Чапек называл это растение "мечтой ленивого интеллигента", а древние называли цветком забвения, т.к. считалось, вдохнув аромат этого цветка можно забыть о земных горестях.
И действительно, на выставках люди забывают о времени, приходят утром, а уходят только вечером, т.к. не могут оторваться от их созерцания.
Русское название лилейников "красоднев". Его цветки открываются утром и закрываются вечером, т.е. каждый цветок красуется только один день.
K. Capek called this plant "a dream of a lazy intellectual". The ancients called this plant "the flower of oblivion". They believed, that smelling this flower you can forget about earthly sorrows.
It seems to be true. People at the exhibitions forget about time. They come early in the morning and leave at night, because they cannot stop contemplating the flowers.
Russians name day lily "the beauty for a day", because their flowers open in the morning and close at night. The flower is so beautiful only for a single day.
